Another indicator of the Bibles colourful reliability

Studying the book of Revelation at BSF at the moment so found this bit of data interesting – and it adds more weight to the argument that the Bible is trustworthy and unique.  In describing the gem stones that will be in Heaven, the Bible details the names of the 12 gems that will be there. Amazingly, every single Gem stated is classified as ‘anisotropic’. Scientists have only discovered that gems can be classified as either anisotropic or isotropic in the last century, but Revelation was written nearly 2000 years ago.  Out of the 28 common gems, only 16 are anisotropic, …

The Best commentary on the Bible?

When we allow our current struggles, pain, grief, frustration, fear (or any hardship) to drive us to God through His Word… He will reveal His true character and nature. He will remind us of His faithfulness. He will expel fear. He will expand our understanding of His power. He will grow our faith. He will convict us of sin. He will forgive and cleanse us. He will challenge us. He will teach us patience. He will encourage us despite our failures. He will motivate us to share with others. But you, O LORD, are a shield around me;you are my glory, …

Two bullets collide Gallipoli Hoax

The below photo has been doing the roads again, supposedly two bulltes that collided in mid air. A quick glance at the left bullet indicates this is another example of people being gullible (no rifling marks are all). If these were actually from Gallipoli, it is nearly certain the left hand bullet was stationary, likely still in a soldier’s belt or magazine.  Regardless, the supposed statistics for such an event piqued my interest…  One edited meme showed that it was a “1 in a billion” chance! While I doubt it was anywhere near that remote (tens of thousands of guns …

How a 1500 year old prophecy nailed me…

If you have ever read history history, you’ll know that it is so far removed from us it is often hard to even understand.  Obscure references, outdated language, unclear meaning, vague projections – even if we go back a hundred or so years.  Compare all that to what I read this morning in a book written a whopping 4500 years ago: IT NAILS IT…well it nailed me!  Despite the fact that we are oblivious to our own actions – that we all think that we are good, this old book has something far more ugly to state:  “All their activity …

The slave trade, being repeated right now!

Just watched a movie / documentary about the end of the slave trade with African Americans and John Newton.  Looking back at this point in time I think that if I was alive during this time, I would have lost it in rage and killed those who were abusing and torturing people for their own benefit.  I imagined fighting back and saving the slaves. But then I had a sobering thought: before Jesus arrested me on a cliff, I was willing to do anything to anyone for a small amount of gain.  I would lie to people. I would rip …

The Bible – the book we love to hate…

Today, while listening to the Bible, it hit me: “No wonder people hate the Bible!!”   “No wonder people hate the Bible!”  Seriously, it’s no wonder it get’s so much negative press…it deserves it! While 95% of what is presented is completely false, no one cares: it’s a book we all love to hate…  I did too. Anyone who dared to try direct me towards it would get an instant and angry attack: those who had represented it to me while young had hurt me, so NO WAY! But today, I see things very differently.   Here’s the verse that I was …

The Slavery of Sugar

There is a lot of talk about sugar and it’s addictive qualities at the moment. While I agree that there are dangers of consuming too much refined sugar, the link between sugar and slavery has another, often overlooked, and possibly more powerful link… While many hold to a relative, social based (or humanistic) moral code, we don’t have to look far to see the results of this belief. When we base our morals on what we see around us, an ‘internal check’ or social norms, many terrible things can and do occur. Slavery is a obvious example. Only a couple …
