Fathers Day 2024

A few key events that have shaped my Fathers Day….  BIOLOGYThe last thing I heard my own father say to me was: “I never wanted children Adam, I still don’t, please don’t contact me again.” He had left after finding out my mum was pregnant with me – I grew up in a cloud of rejection and lack of identity. I met him when I was around 20 years of age while still an alcoholic (he was too), then saw him again a year or two later as a Christian and invited him to my upcoming wedding. I honoured his wish, and …

I love you, son. How connection with the Father changes *everything*

“I love you son”  A short sentence that you can say in less than a second, but it can change a persons day, life and destiny. Have you received these words? Or do you need to say them?  I personally never heard them from my biological father: in fact, the last time I spoke to him he said:  “I never wanted a son and I still don’t. Please don’t contact me again Adam”  That was the last time I talked to my ‘dad’ – I honoured his wish: As far as I know he is now dead…  I had met …

When they don’t want you in church…Fathers Day 2023

It was 23 years ago today I discovered I had a Father. A real, tangible Father that had never left me, always protected me and gently guided me, despite my determined rebellion. It made an instant, lasting difference. – My biological father left before I was born – leaving me insecure and chasing identity. I met him when I was in my 20s for the first time. After seeing him a few times I asked if he would want to come to my wedding. His reply is the last thing I heard him say:  “Adam I never wanted children and …

Baptism notes Miss S 2022

Baptism is often seen as strange, mystical or religious, yet there is so much more to it.
Jesus commanded the Church Baptise people.
The Holy Spirit commands individuals to be Baptism, but as always, humans turn it into a religious stance and use it for division! Differing traditions exist: From a baby being sprinkled somehow being safe from everything for eternity, to someone having to have to be baptised 3 times, say specific prayers, not bath for a week afterwards! BOTH positions miss the point. The Bible makes it clear: there is no Free Pass due to a sprinkling, and …

If you have never known your dad…

If, for whatever reason, you don’t have a good relationship with your dad, I understand.  Not in a cliche, pseudo-psychological way, but in a real, understanding and experiential way.  I know how much of the below is totally hidden, almost all of the time; but inwardly these thoughts lurk and at times, they rear their head. Through even the most epic lifestyle, most hardcore addiction or best suppression techniques some of these things break into our reality. Sometimes repeatedly.   I know how you: – tell yourself it doesn’t matter, – yearn for it to not be your fault,  – put your …

Fathers Day 2022

It was 22 years ago today that I was suddenly confronted with the fact that I had a Father who cared about me.  Maybe this seemed so powerful because my biological father was quite different. When he learned of my existence, he left: no words, no care, no contact, no protection, no provision and no explanation. I wasn’t sad about it – it was all I knew – no dad? No worries!  I had no idea of the damage to my soul, no idea of the difference a role model could make, no idea how a father could teach, model, …

How Discipline Proves Love

I recently wrote an article looking at the ‘Death of the West’: how history reveals that we can not survive the next 40 years. (Article is Here)   All through history, powerful, educated, military nations that should rule the world have ceased to exist. However, it is small, insignificant, uneducated nations like the Jews, have survived through the ages (despite concerted efforts to the contrary!) . It just does not make sense… Unless of course there is some supernatural power at play. Interestingly, the Bible describes this very scenario: a God who punishes nations who violate His law. According to this incredible book, the …

Find me Dad! How hide & seek finds us all…

Have you ever wondered why children want us to find them? It’s reveals something quite profound and it points to something that is universal to us all… It is immensely powerful even though most aren’t aware of it’s reality – though you likely have experienced some of it’s consequences….

Erly Kerly – how this drawing brought me to tears

🎶You are my freedom – You are the reason…I kneel at Your throne once again. 🎶🎶Where would I be without You…here in my life? 🎶The words of this song were playing as I pulled out a picture given to me by my daughter last night…  To set the scene: for Jesus time this morning we imagined the depiction of Heaven in Revelation 4: thinking about each line – what is actually described. Amazing, powerful and glorious beings that surround God’s throne. Lightning, Thunder, pillars of fire, the glow of Emeralds, a glass sea, Elders / Kings bowing and strange but powerful creatures worshipping. Then …
