Close Calls Second Chances & the ultimate backup plan

Close Calls Second Chances & the ultimate backup plan

Driving a machine today, if I had done what was normal, what I normally do, one of my younger children would likely be in the morgue tonight.

For some reason, in that split second, I didn’t do what was ’normal’ and ½ a second later I saw them.

It is truly humbling, scary and makes me feel physically sick to think about how close it was. Something in me would not allow me to control the machine as per normal.

It is a sober reminder that we never know when life will change *drastically* forever. Sometimes, for whatever reason, we get second chances, but ultimately we are a heartbeat, a split second decision, from tragedy. Life is truly fragile.

Sure, we can learn from these near misses: more safety, bigger exclusion zones, extra training, less risks…but none of us can control what happens, none of us know when we will die or loose those close to us.

The one thing we can do is make sure we are ready:

Have close, open and grace filled relationships? Absolutely!
Telling friends, family and others, how much they mean to us? Of course!
Having preparations in place for who you will leave behind? Yes!
But something *far* more important?

Make sure you are ready to face the Creator – to experience judgment – to meet King Jesus face to face.

Nothing is more certain, nothing has bigger consequences, nothing evokes a bigger reward and nothing could have an easier solution….

“And just as each person is destined to die once and after that comes judgment,”

– Hebrews 9:27 (NLT)

If you are in that moment without Jesus, you are doomed…forever. It doesn’t matter how nice, good or religious you have been – your name is either in His book or it isn’t.

Myself, my wife and my children are secure for eternity. No matter what happens I have inner peace knowing that we are safe in His hands. Not because we are good or do the right things (religion), but because Jesus did *everything* required for us to go free. Our trust is in that.

Life is still hard, accidents and horrific events still occur. We still need to grapple with events that hurt so much and impact us so deeply – but it is all in the context of something far, far bigger.

This physical life is only a grain of sand on the beaches of the world, a spec of dust in the vastness of space. True life, real life, the spiritual, is immense – it never ends. *That* is the life we need to be *sure* we have right…

From a plethora of religions, cults and concepts, the claims of Jesus stand alone:

“I am the Way the Truth and the Life”
“You must be born again. If not you can not enter Heaven”
“You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it.”
“I AM the Gate”
“My Father and I are One”

There is more evidence that He walked this earth, died your death and rose to life for you than any other event in history.

Do you trust Him?
Do you have His life?
Do you have the security of knowing Him?
Are you ready for the judgment?

There isn’t a moment to loose…#followJesus no matter what – He will never let you down

#thankYouJesus
