Solar Cooking a Carrot and Walnut cake in a Timber Cake Box…

Timber Cake Box Test

It’s been over a year since I have been wanting to test the amazing Timber Cake Boxes. Giving truly unique results, these boxes are the perfect fir for the Sun Oven® (we sell the Sun Oven as well as Timber Cake Boxes here).

Today, we decided to put a quick carrot and walnut slice together and put in the Sun Oven.

How to line the Timber Cake Box:

First, measure the length of baking paper needed.

I cut just over twice the length as the box we were using is square. (If using a rectangle box, measure just over the length plus the width).

Then, cut the paper in half length ways to end up with two strips. As per the photo to the right. Then fold over about 3cm along each piece.

Next, cut a “v” at each corner to allow the paper to line the box going into the corners.

Lastly, cut a square to go in to the base of the box, overlapping the uprights.

My wife did a very simple, low sugar recipe:

A quick whizz in the ™ and it’s ready to go!

It was nearly 3pm, and clouds were starting to form, but still enough sun for the Sun Oven to cook a cake 🙂

As always, one of the things I love about the Sun Ovens that once you put the food in – you can go about your day. If you’re like me, you’ll have 100 things to do and forget about the food. But once you remember….wahoo 😵😁

After about 2 hours, it was looking beautiful! 😋

What an amazing result for virtually no effort! There was one problem, having just one piece was impossible!

We can highly recommend the Sun Oven due to the fact that it is easy to use, works so well and has so many health and financial benefits.
