Many years ago (on this day) an engineer, (trying to solve a completely unrelated problem), unwittingly stumbled upon what would become the best selling puzzle of all time (~400 million). Ernő Rubik found out what most of us have:
It’s crazy hard to solve!
Some can (my boys can solve it very quickly, one of them can solve all the way up to an 11 x 11 cube!), but it starts with a steep learning curve. And first, it requires an acknowledgement that there is a puzzle to solve.
Believe it or not, we are all trying to solve a puzzle, but most don’t even know exists!
For as long as history has recorded, humans have tried to reconcile their existence on this planet.
Some have tried with religion. Some with elaborate theories designed to appease the conscience. Others try to convince themselves that they want what’s best for the planet, the animals, others – but it’s all in vain.
None of it works in the long term – the puzzle remains: it niggles away constantly, despite our constant attempts to drown it out. Even when the activities get dangerous, bad for us or control us, we persist, determined to find our own nirvana.
Ironically, the more this goes on, the further from genuine peace we get. And the more arrogant in our delusion that our ‘solution’ works.
I’ve been there – workaholic, drug & alcohol addicted, depressed, suicidal, but *still* adamant that everything was ok, that I didn’t need anything, that I had answers for others! Ridiculous.
I hope you’re not the same.
The truth is, your life has been lived in direct opposition to your Creator. This leaves you guilty before Him, under His wrath and headed for destruction. If this tugs somewhere deep, it is a sign He is calling you, I suggest you respond.
Only idiots (or the dead) ignore. Over to you.
