Proud dad moment:
On Saturday, I had the privilege of baptising my 2nd eldest son. I can honestly say, I am more excited & proud than if he had graduated Oxford, or been voted Prime Minister.
Despite all my failures, despite everything around him trying to convince him there is no God and that life is all about feeling good, he has experienced the living, risen Jesus Christ!
And not ‘just’ that, he has decided he will live for Jesus, serving others from here on in…
Simply incredible!
It’s amazing, thinking through his life, despite all my failures & mistakes, God has orchestrated events to reveal not ‘just’ His existence, but His faithfulness. So much so, Elijah has decided it is worth putting up with the disdain & attacks from others.
When I think of where I was at 18, I find it hard to believe.
Such pride, arrogance, ignorance, insecurity, anger, aggression, subject to addictions, depression and worse – I was doomed.
A stark contrast to Elijah – so many natural gifts, abilities & talents, no need for others’ approval, incredible maturity and wisdom for actual life.
It’s mind blowing to me that such an incredible man could be the next generation from where I was. It is truly miraculous:
Ironclad proof that Jesus can do what *nothing* else can:
Religion can’t. Therapy can’t. Medication can’t. All the effort in the world: useless.
Jesus brings Life.
Jesus transforms.
Jesus informs.
Jesus reforms.
My nature changed in an instant. Perfection still way out of reach, He has guided and provided and inspired and revealed Himself to my children in so many ways. And I am truly grateful.
