The Death of the West – Why my grandchildren will never know the Australia I love

The Death of the West – Why my grandchildren will never know the Australia I love

I have just re-read one of the most sobering, thought-provoking and amazing articles I have read this year. It echoes what I have long thought, but am in no way happy to be right. I am actually quite concerned at the gravity of our situation…

The consequences for Australia, America, England – the West – are massive. But not just ‘the West’ in general, but specifically for me, my children and my grandchildren – and likely for you also.

I implore you, PLEASE read this and take to heart what it means for you, your family and your country

The article 1 (Why Sexual Morality May be Far More Important than You Ever Thought https://www.kirkdurston.com/blog/unwin) talks about some of the findings of Oxford social anthropologist J.D. Unwin. Unwin was a man who spent his life studying 86 historical cultures and published the findings in a 600 page summary titled “Sex and Culture” 2600 Page pdf download available here: https://archive.org/details/b20442580/page/n7/mode/2up . His findings would fill seven volumes and is well known to contain incredibly in depth research.

This research is of utmost important to the success or decline of the West.

You see, while you may not know it, while other events and activities may fill your library, feed, mind, life, we are already moving rapidly through what Unwin predicted – and it is not good news!

Unwin discovered that there was a very clear correlation between a culture’s longevity and their moral code.

In short, cultures that allowed immorality were doomed.

This is not a religious statement of doom. This is the finding of a secular scientist, after decades of in depth research on 86 of the worlds most vibrant / well-known cultures. Cultures that for the most part, no longer exist. If we don’t want to follow suit, we need to do what no other culture has ever achieved…

If you think it is a vague doomsday clickbait statement, keep reading! The findings were published in 1934 – nearly 100 years ago. There is no way that Unwin could have known that his predictions would be proved true so quickly and accurately…

If a culture wants to flourish: to be the best in art, literature, science, engineering, architecture, furniture and agriculture, it must embrace pre-nuptial chastity and absolute monogamy. Cultures that embraced these were the only ones to survive (or thrive) for 3 generations. Amazingly, only 3 (out of 86) ever achieved this!!

Now let that sink in. Seriously, if that statement has not caused a shift in your being, (or at least a mental escalation point!) please re-read it until you understand what it means.

The best culture holds to a way of life that we in Australia would see as archaic, burdensome or religious. The opposite of what we accept and champion is what is good for a culture. But it gets worse – much worse.

For a culture to remain rationalistic: it must keep strict prenuptial chastity as the norm. If not, rational thinking, monogamy and deism will disappear within 3 generations.

Although at first glance it may not seem like a big deal, being rationalistic is of high importance. If a culture no longer holds to being rational – what is the alternative? People being led by subjective ‘truth’ – their feelings or ill-founded beliefs. What hope has a nation got if this is the case? To make it perfectly clear: none! Well, that’s actually not true – it is the next point that pushes a culture to the post of no return…

For a culture to be doomed: All it needs to do is embrace sexual freedom! That’s right. Total sexual freedom always led to the culture collapsing to the lowest state. At this point, the culture is normally taken over or conquered by another in a more flourishing state (which still holds to pre-nuptial chastity and or monogamy).

That is right – total sexual freedom, sexual liberty, in a culture always leads to the destruction of that culture within 3 generations! Are you hearing that? ‘The West’ went through sexual revolution in 1960 – 1970. So what is 3 generations from then? At 33 year generations, 2060 – 2070 will be the furthest our Western culture can remain.

Unfortunately, many factors say that is far too optimistic. Not the least, are the speed at which the West has gone through the other traits described by Unwin. He described in 1934 that the nation who abandoned prenuptial chastity would:

  1. Abandon absolute monogamy and exchange for modified monogamy: this has already happened – common law relationships are the norm and those that hold to marriage for life are in a tiny minority.
  2. Deism would be replaced – this has already happened. God has been removed from law, government, education and in it’s place superstition (not atheism) has risen.
  3. Rational Thinking would decline – and it’s decline since 1970 has been incredibly rapid. Post modernism is giving way to post truth: where people feel entitled to believe whatever they want, contrary to science or reason, gain the backing of government and culture to do so and go as far to claim attack if anyone should question it.

If you would like to dig into more (and there is far more) I encourage you to read the article I read by Kirk Durston – you will find it here: https://www.kirkdurston.com/blog/unwin

Our culture is in decline to a point that has never seen a reversal in all of history.

As someone who lived a very immoral and ‘sexually free’ early life, I know the draw and pleasure of sexual freedom. I did however, experience many negatives of this ‘free’ lifestyle. Rejection, anxiety, depression, inability to connect and communicate and of course finding monogamy impossible and unfulfilling.

I personally started to get get quite angry and aggressive when there was any conflict in relationship, so much so I thought I was in danger of being physically violent. I made a decision that I needed to remain away from relationship to protect the other party.

A short time later, physical pain and despair led me to a point where I left on a trip to end my life. Everything I lived for seemed useless and futile – death an easier choice.

However on the edge of a picturesque cliff where I intended to jump, The Creator of the Universe opened my eyes to an amazing truth: the fact that He existed! The only thing more amazing was that he knew my hatred of ‘Him’, He knew all my wrongs – my sin and abuse of others, yet loved me anyway! So much that He sent his Son to die in my place.

This experience was the most powerful of my life: easily toppling police chases (some on a motorbike and one where I crashed), countless sexual and drug fuelled encounters and all the business / financial success I ever put as a goal. It changed my life dramatically (and continues to 22 years later!).

Now, looking back, I see the incredible futility of ‘sexual freedom’ – I am happy to say I have been monogamous with my wife of 18 years and am ecstatic that my children are wanting to practise prenuptial chastity.Death of the west what destroys cultures sexual immorality Jesus needed

After years of study, I now have complete confidence in a book I used to despise: the Bible. In scripture we can see that God has given us His law not to reduce our ‘fun’, but to reveal what His standard is (so we know we have broken it & need Jesus) and to help us see how to the live life He intended. This life is what is best for us in the long term – the consequences of rejecting it are on our own heads.

Interestingly, the Bible explains (from a different reference point) what Unwin found, but thousands of years earlier…

But God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who suppress the truth by their wickedness. 19 They know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them. 20 For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.
21 Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn’t worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused. 22 Claiming to be wise, they instead became utter fools. 23 And instead of worshiping the glorious, ever-living God, they worshiped idols made to look like mere people and birds and animals and reptiles.
24 So God abandoned them to do whatever shameful things their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other’s bodies. 25 They traded the truth about God for a lie. So they worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator himself, who is worthy of eternal praise! Amen. 26 That is why God abandoned them to their shameful desires. Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other. 27 And the men, instead of having normal sexual relations with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and as a result of this sin, they suffered within themselves the penalty they deserved.
28 Since they thought it foolish to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their foolish thinking and let them do things that should never be done. 29 Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy, murder, quarreling, deception, malicious behavior, and gossip. 30 They are backstabbers, haters of God, insolent, proud, and boastful. They invent new ways of sinning, and they disobey their parents. 31 They refuse to understand, break their promises, are heartless, and have no mercy. 32 They know God’s justice requires that those who do these things deserve to die, yet they do them anyway. Worse yet, they encourage others to do them, too.

Romans 1:18-32 (NLT)

God says “wickedness” suppresses the truth, this leads to refusing to worship God as God, thinking up ideas of what God might be like and a complete degradation or morals.

While the sinful human nature may say “great I want God to leave me alone in my sin”, we know that this leads to many problems, societal collapse and then, what is worst: Judgment and hell for those who reject His Son:

And we know that God, in his justice, will punish anyone who does such things.

Romans 2:2 (NLT)

In case the reader wants to gloss over this verse, a few verses later, we are left without doubt:

But because you are stubborn and refuse to turn from your sin, you are storing up terrible punishment for yourself. For a day of anger is coming, when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed. 6 He will judge everyone according to what they have done. 7 He will give eternal life to those who keep on doing good, seeking after the glory and honor and immortality that God offers. 8 But he will pour out his anger and wrath on those who live for themselves, who refuse to obey the truth and instead live lives of wickedness.

Romans 2:5-8 (NLT)

So, while the death of the West may be a for-gone conclusion, the judgment of our souls is vastly more important. Knowing that we were (and are) sinners, God sent His Son, Jesus, to die on our behalf. 3 John 3:16 / Roans 5:8  Those who put their active faith in Him will be saved 4John 3:16 but there is also another side benefit: they will be able to see! That means, dear friends – if we keep sharing the Gospel and enough people respond, maybe, just maybe, God could bring us back from the brink of destruction.

Conclusion: Without God we are doomed!

Lord, help us to understand the gravity of our predicament, as a culture and also as sinful individuals before Your judgment seat. May we turn to You for forgiveness and turn from our sins. Our eternal salvation and our nation depends on You for all.
